I wouldn't call myself a big Michael Jackson fan. Like most kids growing up in the 80s & 90s, I was surrounded by his music though. I remember as a kid loving Billie Jean and Beat It but later I found myself liking some remakes of Jackson tunes more than the originals. Smooth Criminal by Alien Art Farm is a great remake; better than the original in my opinion. I also love Mariah Carey's I'll Be There but there's something to be said about the original J5 version. Such an innocence in Michael. I've teared up more than once since hearing the news about his death. A reminder of my own mortality, an icon from my youth gone and the tragic & sad turn his death took are all contributing to the tears. Poor boy/man, seems as though he lived with many, many demons and I truly hope he's finally at peace.
